Most Salt Lake City deliveries are in the driveway or on the parking strip. If the dumpster needs to sit in the street, the city requires a right-of-way permit; call us and we'll walk you through it before booking.

The driveway is the easy answer. Salt Lake City doesn't require anything for a dumpster on private property. The moment it touches the street or the park strip, you're in the public right-of-way and the city's Engineering Division wants a public way permit, a traffic control permit if it sits on the shoulder, and a parking permit if the block has meters, 2-hour limits, or residential permit parking. The city also requires four lighted Type 1 barricades, one at each corner, and it does not supply them. In the Avenues and parts of Liberty Wells, driveways are narrow or nonexistent, so this comes up a lot. Call us before you book and we'll tell you whether the spot you have in mind is a driveway job or a permit job, and what to ask Engineering for.
Most of our SLC work is in homes built before 1950: Avenues brick, Sugar House bungalows, Capitol Hill Victorians, Liberty Wells cottages. Those remodels produce lath and plaster, old fir framing, cast iron, and plaster dust that weighs more than modern drywall. A gutted 1920s kitchen and bath will fill a 20-yard and get close to the included ton, so we'll talk you through weight before you load. Rose Park and Glendale are a different story, with 1940s and 50s ramblers, basement finishes, and a lot of rental turnovers where the load is furniture and carpet rather than demolition. ADU builds have picked up across the east side since the city loosened the rules, and those sites usually want a 20-yard for the framing phase and a 7-yard dirt box if they're excavating for a foundation.
Salt Lake City proper is one of the shortest runs we make from Holladay, and both disposal sites we use for SLC loads, ACE Intermountain on Wallace Road and Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste on California Avenue, are on the west side close to the city, which means an SLC swap or pickup rarely waits on a dump line. Book a weekday morning before noon and the bin is usually in your driveway that afternoon. West-side deliveries can be same day almost every time; the Avenues and Federal Heights take a little longer because of the grades and narrow streets, but still the same day more often than not.
Property managers along 900 South, State Street, and the Central City apartment blocks use us for unit turnovers and evictions where the bin needs to be in and out in a day. Restaurants and small shops on remodel usually need a 20-yard with a rear door so a crew can wheel material in from the alley. If your site is in the downtown core, tell us the cross streets and we'll work out whether the alley, a loading zone, or a permitted street spot makes the most sense. Net 30 accounts are available for any business that expects more than one bin a quarter.

Book 1, 3 or up to 7 days. Need longer? It's $25 per extra day. No penalty, no re-booking.
The 20-yard includes 1 ton; anything over is $75 per ton, billed from the landfill scale ticket. The 7-yard dirt and concrete box is a flat rate with no weight overage.
Hazardous materials (paint, fuel, chemicals, asbestos), tires, batteries, electronics, and medical waste. Dirt, concrete, brick and stone can't go in the 20-yard; they go in the 7-yard box.
We put heavy-duty boards under every dumpster, every time, to spread the weight and protect concrete and asphalt. No extra charge.
