New builds and bare-dirt backyards
Independence and Day Ranch have added thousands of homes in a few years, most of them delivered with a finished front yard and a backyard that's still grade. Finishing that backyard means dirt out, sod or rock in, and a patio or fire pit poured. Dirt and rock go in the 7-yard box at a flat rate with no tonnage overage; sod installs on these lots usually take one or two boxes. Basement finishes are the other big category, and framing, drywall, and packaging from those go in the 20-yard. A lot of Bluffdale customers order one of each.
Horse property and acreage
East of the freeway and along the river, Bluffdale still has acre-plus lots with barns, sheds, arenas, and decades of accumulated material. Outbuilding cleanouts are bulky but light, old lumber and fencing and equipment, and fill a 20-yard fast without approaching the weight limit. Fence tear-outs, old corrals, and arena re-grades produce a mix, and we'll tell you what goes in which bin. These properties have room to set the bin on gravel or dirt, which keeps it off the concrete entirely.
Placement and turnaround
Bluffdale is about 16 miles from our Holladay base, inside the standard radius with no mileage fee. Trans-Jordan Landfill is a short run north, so a full 7-yard turns around quickly and a swap called in before noon usually happens the same afternoon. Driveway placement needs no permit. Street placement requires city permission, and in the newer subdivisions the HOA may have rules on duration; the driveway is always the safe bet. Same-day delivery on weekday morning orders is typical, next-day at worst.
